I've Googled my bollocks off so I'm coming to the Deep Blue of hives.
I have a midi-capable Casio CTK-6200.
I want to use this as a controller for my Korg Volca Keys.
The Casio doesn't have a midi DIN-out, just a type B USB.
I bought a cable with USB B on one end and DIN IN and OUT plugs on the other.
It doesn't work.
I've read that the Volca cannot be driven by USB midi.
Is there a cheap-ish solution that will allow me to connect the two and control the Korg via the
Casio keyboard?
TIA
I suspect you’ll have to go via a laptop…
EDIT - found this via Google… https://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/14304-using-a-ctk6200-as-a-midi-controller/
just a type B USB.
IIRC - USB cables are sort of one way with A being at the sending end (ie your computer) and B being the receiving end (such as a printer) so it suggests the port is for a PC controlling the Casio, as a peripheral, rather than being a means that the Casio would be able to operate something else.
Should work, are you sending MIDI data out on the casio on the same channel as the Korg is expecting to see it?
I just re-read you initial post, I thought you had bought a 3.5mm jack to midi din convertor.
Unless the USB device is a host USB device that sort of pretends to be a computer it won't work.
As others have said it should work if you go via a computer
