Got a new car and our area is getting a reputation at the moment for a bit of crime due to lack of police. But that's a different story.
I'm looking at home security cameras I can put on the front of the house to keep an eye on things. Would want something easy to use and don't need to look through all the footage to see if anything has happened. Maybe motion sensor ones?
Any one used ring or blink systems? Or open to suggestions of any other options

Neos working OK me - not strictly outdoor but you can get housings for them and it's tucked under the eaves anyway.
Most of these struggle with accurate motion sensing unless you really restrict what they're looking at, and you don't have any outside light or shadow to throw them off. I live next to a road and even with the camera just pointing at the car, passing headlights or shadows in low sun trigger it. Works OK in the porch though.
I have Neos, they get triggered by moths, light levels changing eg car headlight passing at night etc. The resolution isn't that great, eg if someone took your car you wouldn't be able to tell who it was..
I've got a ring camera. You can set zones and people sized objects so it only records if someone goes in that area (and the occasional cat). The only downside is the yearly subscription around £80 iirc.
Thinking about this. I'd need something with an offline mode as the broadband cable comes around the outside of the house so could easily be disconnected by a thief.
The Neos record to a SD card, so as long as they don't nick the camera you have the footage. Not sure how useful footage is of a hooded person in the dark stealing a car. They'll look like all the other hooded figures you can't identify on CCTV....
I’ve had 2 Ring cameras and a doorbell for a couple of months and found it very good. If you only have one camera you can get a cheaper subscription.

Personally my thoughts are leave the car keys by the door, if they want the car bad they will come in, I would much much rather they just took the insured car and buggered off than came upstairs to enquire as to where the keys might be.
It's just a car.
I didn't realise ring was a subscription service? Is that for the storage cloud?
I've a Blink camera in the garage (the cheapest indoor one), it serves it's purpose there well.
Upsides:
- cheap
- no subscription service
- battery powered
- easy to get a live photo or video in the app
Downsides:
- camera is just a camera, I get alerts on my phone if it is triggered. However, I also use iOS Bedtime so don't get notifications after 11pm. If someone broke into my garage at 2am I'd wake up to a notification and a video of what they did.
What I really want from Blink is an optional siren, and for Apple to let me whitelist specific notifications. I don't want my twitter beeping during the night but I really do want the Blink app to bleep agressively!

A lot of them are if you want videos saved for any length of time....
as above pretty sure this has been mentioned before.
I use the Swann set-up available from many places although I got a decent price in Screwfix.
Two movement sensitive cameras mounted one each side of the house. Wired set-up but pretty easy to hide wires, drill through into house etc. Hard drive indoors that records up to six months then just overwrites older data.
HDMI into old TV. Picutre is HD quality and can also link into HomeSafe app on the phone for live remote viewing.
I'm a reasonably competent DIY'er and it wasn't difficult to set up.
We are on a new estate & their have been 3 break ins in the last few weeks. Every time they’ve ignored the house & it’s contents & taken newish Audi’s. One house they’d even put biscuits down for the dog. Usual method, snapping the lock to get in.
I copped two chaps on my drive trying doors during one of the the nights last week, so had to do something. They scarpered once I’d challenged them (from the bedroom window... 😉 ). To be fair, the Police were round in minutes & have been driving round during the night.
So after weighing up the differeosystems I put a 3 camera Blink XT2 system up last night. Was a doddle to do. Check WiFi strength with your phone at your proposed camera locations first. The cameras have an indicator on their settings page anyway, but even on just one bar they still work perfectly. I’ve ordered a Powerline WiFi extender fit the garage so should be fine once installed.
They work perfectly. Picture quality is excellent. Even infra red mode works well. Lots of settings you can twiddle with. The field of vision isn’t as wide as I’d hoped, but I might change their locations. I get a notification & can switch to a live feed if I need. They have a microphone so you can talk over them. No cloud fees either.
Overall, I’m happy. Was £200 from Amazon.
im going to ask a stupid question but whats the point of a cctv system?
if there breaking i theyll take whatever they want. Its non admissible in court so what benefit does it give you?
I've got 2 of these, very good:

Proof for your contents insurance, and any ability for you spouse to remain indoors and call the police rather than going outside to check a noise and bumping into a gang of thieves at least. Finally, its a deterrent.
Somewhat agree, it's a minor deterrent at best and most burglars would be wearing at least a hoodie. Might help on a rare occasion (e.g. drunken vandalism) but unlikely for a burglar that's clued up enough to have a key relay system.
Every review I've read of a two camera system under £500 seems to throw up loads of issues (e.g. poor nighttime resolution, several second delay in motion activation etc.) which has always put me off

Start with Is My Car Keyless Entry? - If you have to push a button on your car keys to enter you car, you are not at risk to being “hacked”. Only cars with a keyless entry system can be stolen using so called “relay” equipment.
A friend of mine has his garage and house rigged to go off like this
using Phillips Hue smart lighting in combination with music and a really, really powerful alarm.
It's pretty ****ing effective and would shit me right up if I were the burglar, I'd be expecting to get murdered with a pair of bombers from behind by some deranged lunatic.
I have a Neat camera being fitted Friday after my wife got lucky with a Facebook competition. I’ll report back once fitted and I’m all subscribed.
