After a spate of attempted burglaries nearby, my wife is keen we look at some security cameras outside our house.
I'm thinking Nest or Ring, as we have other devices from each range currently so be convenient to keep in the same ecosystem.
Swaying towards the vayyeba powered Ring as it's easy self install and pretty reasonable price.
Any recommendations from others?
I've got a Netgear Arlo. It's good for us because the cameras are completely wireless and there's no power where we needed one of them.
It works, it got a burglar arrested and convicted, can't ask for much more than that.
Got a wired Lorex system - Full HD with a recorder. You need to be able to run the wires and it connects to a mains WIFI/extender (via cat5). It will take other makes cameras too -have 2 Lorex cameras and 2 Swann.
I was lucky I have a location for the box which meant only running 1 long run of wires to the front of the house.
It's been fuss free for the last year we've had it.
It's also accessible via the web etc. Happy with it as we also have the same make of wireless web cam for the mother in law to check for falls.
Got the Swann system that was recommended on here for our shop.
Finally caught our Saturday shop lifter.
Result.
I’ve got Ring after some scrotes tried to break into my garage - luckily the locks held but I won’t take my chances!
Lass at work started getting a load of movement alerts on her phone yesterday; looked at the footage and it was her camera in someone else’s kitchen. Apparently it had been pinched off her wall, fenced at the corner shop and bought by the chap that works at the chippy. Police didn’t find thi our and retrieve the camera, Facebook did. 🤣
