Hi all, I'm a keen photographer and currently send my images off to be printed but the cost is crippling me. I am looking for a printer that will print up to A3 on a photorag style paper with no loss in sharpness or colour.
Any ideas or personal experiences/recommendations would be great.

If you think a specialist printer is expensive, effectively buying their printer to have at home is going to be rather steep.

Epson or canon. If you don't do the volume then a canon will be less likely to clog if left unused and a head is user replaceable (and cheap) whereas an epson isn't user serviceable and is toast once the print head goes. They do eat ink when going through a cleaning cycle if they have been left standing.
Northlight imaging have some good printer reviews.
There is also the replacement ink systems from marrutt and I think permajet if you want to save on high volume printing.
I think there are some newer printers with bigger carts now as some are far too small and the customer backlash on cart prices has meant offering more VFM

Thank you MrSmith and I understand that TooTall but I thought I look into it as a few people have have asked me the question and the truth was I didnt really know if there would be much in it. Its also the convenience of having a printer at home to use on demand. Sometimes you end up printing 2 or 3 times before your happy with the final image even with soft proofing.

I was choosing a home office printer recently and I read that you basically have to be doing A LOT of printing at A3 to make it worth buying your own.
