It's that time of the year again.
Currently with M&S and, like many, I'm looking to change.
I had to claim for escape of water a year or so ago, but with M&S I have protected no claims discount.

When I'm looking for quotes, most places ask if you've made any claims in the past x years.
Am I supposed to declare that I've claimed, or is the NCD there to remove the need to declare claims?

Thanks!

You'll have to declare it, as far as I know. I'm not convinced the protected no claims means a thing unless you're staying with the insurer who's offering it.

You made a claim so yes you do and NCD is for staying with your current supplier.

Bugger.
Thanks though.
For anyone interested, renewal was about £290 with M&S, online quote with Direct Line Select was ~£500 but I need to find a moment to call them...
