Has anybody used them / know how accurate they are? I'm quite curious at the moment just to have a little check. I don't have a strong reason for needing one, apart from feeling tired and lacking energy often and just to check my diet is okay having made a large change a few years ago, I don't feel particularly better/worse for it.

Home blood tests to self diagnose illnesses / cat aids?

Nah, I'll pass thanks. If concerned go see a trained medical professional.

If you are genuinely feeling tired all the time, then it can be a symptom for something, low iron, thyroid issues, a million things, so most GP's would be up for doing a basic blood test to rule out anything sinister i would of thought?

They are probably sending the sample to the same lab that the expensive test centre is.

Need to make sure they can differentiate between Good and Bad cat aids. That's very important....

Yep, have used them loads of times. As thyroid has been mentioned be aware that the NHS is only interested in the TSH and only one type of thyroid antibody. This is insufficient, if you pay for private blood test then you should have both types of thyroid antibodies tested together with the FT3. If you're not happy with the finger prick type then it's possible to have your blood taken at a private hospital although I can't remember which ones but can find out. Also there is the option of a private phlebotomist coming to your home.

Off the top of my head Medichecks, Blue Horizon, Genova Diagnostics.

Worth getting your vit D and vit B12 tested too.

Go to the doctor, and ask for a full blood test. Make sure to include testosterone, or they will leave it out.

Go to the doctor, explain your symptoms. A doctor will prescribe whatever blood tests may or may not be required.

As a slight thread hijack ...

I've just been to donate blood after having lost 14kg do far this year, apparently have low iron 120 when it should be at least 135 whatever that means.

Question is; go to the GP for them to tell me to eat more iron rich foods, or just get on with it myself?

. A doctor may or may not be arsed as they see loads of people with non specific symptoms like thiswill prescribe whatever blood tests may or may not be required.

I have tested with Thriva a few times, it's much more useful than going to see a GP. It's faster and the results are translated and well laid out, vs the GP that said to my mate 'if we don't call you you are fine' or you forgot. Or lost it.

If you can afford it then go for it. Super quick and results in a few days. If there is anything really wrong they will just send you to the GP anyway.

I had very low vit D despite spending long as possible outside. Also low B12 and some early indicators of liver problems, which was a surprise as a 'moderate' (25 units a week) drinker at 33.

Now getting more tests through the GP after going dry to rule out any weird causes
