Hi, we'd like to have a week's holiday with the dog this summer (although he'll still be under a year old) and we're thinking about Devon / Dorset. Can anyone recommend any dog friendly accommodation, beaches, etc and do you have any advice about taking a young dog on holiday? Thanks.
I wouldn't do it until they were 2. Under 1 he'll still be struggling hold himself all night, especially somewhere unusual.

Somerset, near Quantocks which are great for biking with a dog.
Last couple of years we've stayed in/around Porlock, Somerset with our dog. I can recommend The Pack Horse self-catering cottages/apartments as very dog-friendly. Loads of places around there to exercise the dog; Exmoor, Holnicote woods and beaches close-by, as well. The pubs in Porlock are dog-friendly as well!
Dogs Trust used to have a link with one of the big cottage companies to offer dog friendly accomodation.
We've had mixed experiences staying away with dogs as to how dog friendly places are.
The Isle of Wight was one of the most dog friendly places we found. Nearly every pub allowed mutts outside of town.
