So the eternal struggle to find a 2+2 holiday continues , wife wants sea sand all inclusive , I want mountains and sea and  no hassle  ..  kids  happy with pool and all they can eat and drink and swim.

Problem is Im not a skinflint but August 2 weeks and sun = the wrong side of £4k for the most part and simply put I really cant see it happening  not for lake of funds but reasoning .. last year we did 12 days in Canada for less than £3k in August ,its getting silly.. But then you look at Egypt  , ive been before some 13 years ago and loved it , weather and hotel were top draw  Sharm was good , and now prices are great.

Question is simply  SAFE ?  or should my senses let me know its cheap for a reason ....

With all the unrest in that part of the world I wouldn’t go there if you paid me, let alone take loved ones along.

mates going to greece (crete) with his wife and 2 kids for same sort of money i believe.  friendly people, lovely country, good food and drink, plenty hot enough.......

hated every minute when we went to sharm, what a mistake-a-da-maka.  hassled everywhere we went, shouted at when we didnt go in their shops, kids locked in a shop where they tried to make them buy drugs, dirty money, food made us ill, what were we thinking????  oh and to top it all theres a mcdonalds there 😀

if you hadnt guessed, id recommend looking at greece......

I have been twice a year for the past couple of years. It certainly feels safe to me when I am there. I normally go for a two week holiday in the summer with the family - usually an all inclusive hotel with excellent diving on the door step. To be fair we don't tend to leave the hotel much (if at all) but do pick a hotel with lots of activity on offer. Then I have been going back in October for a week dive trip on a boat, so a bit different and don't spend much time on dry land.

From my experience I wouldn't have any concerns about going - in fact already got two visits booked for this year.

Been to Hurghada the last few years and it’s awesome every time. I wouldn’t put my very young children at risk which is the reason they’ve never been to Slough, but Egypt, no problem.

Was just reading today that there are new flights starting from Doncaster to Hurghada this year, so TUI still have some confidence in the place, though for all I know they could be cutting more flights from elsewhere. Naples too, so I might take my Geology mad kid over to Pompeii and Etna.

You probably won’t get shot but you will most likely spend a couple of days looking down the toilet.

Not how I like to spend my holidays.

Turkey is a place I vowed never to return to never felt safe and got a flight back 7 days early ..

Never suffered with "deli belli" tbh  and im sure the 5 star  hotels in Hurghada are up to a decent standard and the fact that some of the bigger tour operators  are still going there shows confidence

We used to go to Sharm every year but haven't been for a few years due to the unrest, I don't even know of any flights from the UK into Sharm airport?

Around 231,000 British nationals visited Egypt in 2016. Most visits are trouble-free. There is no FCO advice against travel to Cairo, Alexandria, the tourist areas along the Nile river (including Luxor, Qina, Aswan, Abu Simbel and the Valley of the Kings) and the Red Sea resorts of Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada.

As a precautionary measure, we are advising against all but essential travel by air to or from Sharm el Sheikh. On 31 October 2015, a flight from Sharm el Sheikh to St Petersburg crashed in North Sinai.
