Always wanted to take my Mrs to Switzerland after a great back packing trip there with an old mate many years ago mainly on the Rhatischebahn. I like the idea of another rail trip but one the wife would enjoy. I've never done an accompanied/guided holiday before but as the groups are max 25 people with this company i thought it might be worth a go. We'll be based in Chur so I can always wander off to Lenzerheide if I need to get away and hire an mtb for a few days riding. Has anyone any experience of this sort of holiday and with this company?

hmm, following this with interest as I'd suggested this type of trip to Mrs NBT as something that might be suitable for meeting up with her elderly aunt who lives out there

I don't have experience with this type of company but have oodles of experience with Swiss trains.
Have you considered foregoing the trout and doing it yourself? A swiss rail pass is excellent value (as is a one country interrail pass which is 15% off until midnight).

It would be a lot cheaper I imagine to do it yourself.
Switzerland is a wonderful place, don't get out of by the thought of cost, it's not as bad as you might think if you are sensible. Also the majority speak English very well and most signs are in English.

The RhB is amazing but don't get hung up about going on the "Bernina express" itself. The hourly local trains use the same route, don't attract a hefty supplement, are far quieter and have opening windows so you can see out and take photos better. Would recommend to do Chur - Tirano via the Albula and Bernina routes, then back ove the Bernina pass to Samedan and then loop round via Davos/Klosters to Chur for some amazing scenery.

Thanks for that whiteruder93, we have thought about doing it ourselves but thought the economy of scale with a tour might make it cheaper. We'll have a rethink! On my last trip to Switzerland I stayed in Filisur and did a lot of the route you described.

When Mrs Vlad and I went, we just bought some sort of "8 days in 15 rail pass" and organized everything ourselves. I'm not sure what real extra value a tour operator would have provided...it's not like it's a difficult third world country 😉

SBB app or website will show you times and ticket costs. Can't imagine how a tour will be cheaper than doing it yourself.

Not Switzerland but we did a holiday with Great Rail Journeys a few years back to India. A fantastic trip and experience. Very well organised. Basically this trip.
