After just about getting over the shock of our first baby being born last month Mrs S and I have been thinking about trying to have a weeks holiday in the early summer. we've decided that we'll stick with a UK holiday and have thought that a nice lodge/caravan park could be a good idea so can anyone recommend one to us?

our criteria is as follows:
- not full of chavs
- in pembrookshire or south west england
- near the coast
- have an indoor pool that would be suitable for a 6 month old child (in case the weather turns shite)
- near a town for days out and lunch trips
- near attractions
- have 'comfortable' living accommodation. i.e. heated, tv when when nipper is in bed in the evening, microwave, clean carpets etc
- possibly have dining facilities on site in case we can't be bothered to cook

that's all I can think of off the top of my head but i'm sure there are others.

budget is probably £3-350 for a week.

so, what can people recommend to us?

are there any that we should avoid?

not full of chavs

there lies the problem, that's like saying I want a sports shop that starts with J and ends with D but must not...

not full of chavs

see Parkdean

I can recommend Ruda, Devon (been there last lots years for surfing -*see beachside apts as they have private (small DEEP pool **EDIT min depth I think is 3ft so it might not allow children ..) with (small)jacquzzi, and (small sauna) and are ON beach, 2 good pubs (inc food) in walking, accom is officially gf suitable.

*on site facilities (and chav count change - in season LOTS of facilities and peple, out of season main park facilities closed - prices cheaper, less people, also as appts are seperated from park that gives you some privacy...)

check for sepcial offers and if you pay up front with debit it's cheaper.

kidi facilitues nearby - Big Sheep etc etc...... good scenery (Exmoor, Porlock etc)

Haven Littlesea in Weymouth. We took our toddler there in October - excellent. All of the above with the indoor pool included in the price. Food on site if you want it, loads on that stretch of coast, the caravan we had was excellent - 2 showers, CH, good kitchen etc. A bit East of your area but great for what you want - but only go out of season!

We stayed here http://www.hoseasons.co.uk/lodges/sandybrook-country-park-SANB last October.
It doesn't meet all of your requirements i.e. it's not in Pembrookshire or near the coast but fulfils the rest.
The lodges were very comfortable, kitchen had microwave, dishwasher, washing machine etc. We also had a lodge with a hot tub - great to jump in after a day at Alton Towers.
Plenty to do in the area, theme parks and towns to visit.

Just to add my 2-p worth! I have also used Hoseasons before but for couple-y breaks with hot tub. Only stayed in the north of England but found their accommodation to be very good, but we stayed well out of season and so got a good price. I suspect that by June prices go up, and to get the facilities you want (i.e. pool) you would be looking at more of a 'park' than a small quiet set of lodges. Can I suggest if you don't get any more site recommendations, try ukcampsite.co.uk for honest reviews of holiday parks. If you use the map search (option 2) you can view those with pools and narrow down those with static caravans, most of which will also have lodges / apartments to rent. Places like Haven at Manorbier get good reviews. Unfortunately the closer you are to amenities (i.e. to the coast and towns) the more popular and IME more 'chavvy' a place. If you are willing to drive to attractions etc, you might get a better site and overall experience.

Just seen on another post also recommendations for groups of privately-owned cottages which have their own pool, games rooms etc (Sherrill Farm , North Hayne). Might also be worth searching for these type of accommodation, although the facilities may or may not be suitable for such a little one.

Me, my partner and my little girl (just over 1 year old at the time) went to a lovely caravan holiday park on the North West Coast last year.

We normally go abroad but because we now have a young one, we couldn't face the hassle.

The park is called Ocean Edge Leisure Park and is situated on a cliff top, overlooking Morecambe Bay. I would say that the park has all the criteria you are looking for including an indoor heated pool, family lounge, beer garden and cafe...

They also have a soft childrens play area and 'Billy the Beaver'park mascot, who my little one was fascinated with.

Morecambe town centre is very close and has lots of family things to do including bowling, lazer quest and the cinema.

Lancaster City centre is just a ten min drive and has loads of restaurants, bars, cafes, shops...

Their website has more information about the location: www.slholidays.co.uk/Ocean-Edge

I hope this helps! 🙂

Gill x
