We're away in a Eurocamp style cabin for 2 weeks, part of a bigger family group. Need some ideas for easy group meals with probably rubbish kitchen facilities and lack of well stocked diverse store cupboard. What works well?

I find cooking things in advance and taking them frozen works well. Spaghetti Bolognese/Lasagne, Curry etc.

Are you all in one cabin or in individual ones? Will the kitchen equipment be sufficient to cook for a large group eg big enough saucepans for cooking rice/ pasta.

Making one thing that covers everyone’s wants is tricky. I’d focus on making “buffet” style meals that can be served cold as for me it’s about the time together. A few different salads, pizza, as your likely not to have big dishes do chicken (or whatever) but in three different styles (eg, baked, a stew and fried).

Make up a huge batch of spag bol or chilli con carne, split it and freeze the unused portions.

Chilli in particular is super versatile but most "pasta sauce" type stuff will double up for jacket potato fillings, or serve with race, pasta, on its own with pitta bread...

When we've done Eurocamp a couple of times, we've just lived on cheese, cooked meats, cheese, lovely fresh bread, cheese, salads and more cheese

You can always add a little cheese if you want a bit of variety

Soup. A bigger pan than you think. Your knife from home, the ones at the destination wouldn't cut fog.

TBH make fresh baguettes/bread things  etc from the bakery every day for lunch and takeaways on the evening.

I’m assuming it’s ‘abroad’ so eating out on the evenings can be a cultural part of the experience as opposed to locking yourselves away.

We do eurocamp most years, most of the places have an inside bakery so that's breakfast sorted.

Lunches we tend to be lazy and live off ice cream, lidl pre packed croque monsters, baguettes, sandwiches, or salads.

Evenings we do a mix of takeaway bits as most of the places have a pizzeria and a burger and chips place, and then simple cooking. As other have said spaghetti bolognese, chilli, risotto or paella, simple curry - all things you can do with a single pan for sauce and then do your rice or pasta without much hassle. The ovens are always awful, and make the place too hot being on for too long.

Every one we've ever had has had a bbq, normally a gas one which makes grilling a load of sausages, burgers, chops, steaks, kebabs nice and easy too

Surprised it took so long for someone to say BBQ. All the eurocamps and similar we did back in the day had a gas BBQ. Just grill a load of stuff, have with salads, and bread.

Takeaway some days for sure but get yourself to the local market and be amazed at the quality of french (assuming it's France) fruit and veg. And fish. And cheese. Don't forget the cheese.

Most eurocamp style accommodation doesn't have an oven (just a hob), so bear that in mind for your cooking plans 👍
