Going to book a car for our Italian holiday in the next day or two. First thought is they're all robbing gits. On the other hand we hired a car from Budget in France and it was fine. That however is as far as our car hire experiences go so what do you all think? Any providers that stand out either way?
I have hired cars abroad perhaps 10-12 times over the last decade. The only time I got ripped off (as in, criminally, fraudulently ripped off), was by a small local company. All the big companies (Enterprise and Avis mainly) have been fine.
I get my own excess insurance and don't pay for theirs. This has been fine too - I've claimed twice with no issues.
