Never been on a package holiday so need some tips. A week at easter with nice weather and road biking. Thinking of advise of mrs anagalis friends. Now until 5 mins I didnt realise Mallorca and Majorca were the same place!! We will go as a family of three so tag team childcare with rides. Is it easy to hire bikes? I presume some nice routes can be downloaded in advance. I will happily ride solo, but not sure about mrs anagallis, so would it be possible to find a group? The specific cycling holidays look spendy.

Thanks for any advise and remember my idea of an easter break is camping in the rain in the Lakes!!

There are LOADS of bike hire places in Majorca. Some hotels even hire them... The north east is popular, if you set up camp somewhere around Port de Pollenca you'll have everything you need for cycling.

Got mine from Mallorca Bike Hire, partly because they set up their brakes to English standard with front lever on the right. Can recommend them, they had my bike setup perfectly to my measurements when I got there.

I'm the same, and never did a package holiday until recent years. Treat it the same as your trip to the lakes with some extra creature comforts and you'll enjoy it.

Mallorca is very easy for combining good riding and childcare, both times we've been we've stayed at all inclusive style Jet2 places, buffet food for fussy kids, but nice rooms etc. etc.

I've hired from Rad-International.de who have been faultless and seem to be relatively cheap.

Just be warned apparently Mallorca in April isn't guaranteed Sunshine, the 312 event has seen some pretty biblical rain in the past!

Porto Pollensa is where you need to be , about 10 bike hire shops and a nice beach
Loads of riding and the bikes outnumber the cars massively , like 20-1.
I have been with stuart hall a couple of times and have a load of their routes on my Garmin, happy to fire them over if you like. I am pretty certain they will do guided days / half days for your Mrs too
Some of our guys organised flights themsleves and got a bus transfer up from the airport , was bonkers cheap, like Eu20.

Porta pollensa and which seems to be a few km away Alcudia seem to have some cheap places to stay, seems a bit of walking in the hills would be good too.

Anyone got any suggestions for warmer places at Easter?

April is tricky for riding in good weather - Tenerife may be warmer but Teide is very high so going up there can be variable.

We went to Mallorca in March 2018 when the 'Beast of the East' was plunging the UK into a cold snap. Mallorca was a bit chilly (~10 C) but quite a pleasant change. The riding there is fantastic and I'd echo all the above points about Porto do Pollença and easy bike hire etc. I hired a bike for a couple of days during a family holiday. Worked well.

We're in Mallorca every March, including 2018 as mentioned above...surprised we even made it to the airport on one of the snowiest days I can remember.

Anyway, we stay in Palma way which is a bit further out from the mountains but they're still reasonably accessible depending how much time you have.

We take our own bikes so there's no specific hire places I can recommend although there are plenty around.

Weather is generally good for March, prone to the odd shower but temperatures maybe average around 14c. Have never felt the need for tights or overshoes, gilet and warmers at most which usually end up in back pockets. Had the odd day pushing 20c and coming home with tan lines.

Great place for an early season break, gets me through Jan/Feb knowing I've got some decent weather/riding to look forward to.

Canaries are hot all year.

I actually much preferred Gran Canaria to Majorca. They don't have the same cycle infrastructure around the coastal areas, so plan your routes and try to get somewhere where you can get straight up in the mountains. And you must like climbing! One of the most brutal rides I've ever done was a mere 50 miler in Gran Canaria.
