I rode a fair bit in Melbourne in the late 2000s and it was a bit worse than late 90s London ... but this is something else. Will be watching to see what the outcome is if they catch the bastard.
I’m in WA at the moment on holidays - attitude to cyclists here is just a step above how they treat kangaroos
Jeez, that’s horrible

Sounds right. I met a Dutch guy in southern WA riding a recumbent across Australia. He said riding through Perth was so dangerous he ended up taking a bus to get south rather than take the risk.
Oddly enough nearly everyone i've ever met in Perth seems to come from Britain.
Article updated:
On Monday afternoon, Victoria Police said a 40-year-old Dandenong woman had come forward and was assisting police with their enquiries.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good* drivers were around Sydney - more so given that cyclists are on occasions forced onto 3 or 4 carriageway roads.
*they weren't any worse than the UK, put it that way.
I did a group ride down to Wollongong to watch some of the Worlds and at times it was like riding along the M1. I was incredibly thankful for the "protection" of the group.
On another ride, further south, we did have a guy pull up right alongside us in a pickup and give a long blast of his horn. That was the only deliberate road rage I had in nearly a month of riding there though but yes, I was certainly wary of the anti-cycling attitudes I'd heard about.
Ah the old, 'vehicle hit a cyclist' one, instead of a DRIVER hit a cyclist.
To be fair, the headline is now: Woman arrested after Melbourne hit-and-run with cyclist captured on dashcam footage
instead of a DRIVER hit a cyclist.
Which could mean that they got out of their car and punched the cyclist.
Oddly enough nearly everyone i’ve ever met in Perth seems to come from Britain.
For work related reasons I once had to phone the police in Perth. Receptionist I spoke to was from Chester and the police officer I spoke to was from Huddersfield.
Wow. What is the actual offence committed when someone deliberately mows someone down in a car?
Watched the vid, his bike has vanished....then read the article, dragged underneath the front of the car. amazing he walked away from that
Daily Mail headline:
"Watch as cyclist wantonly damages car with his bicycle!"
It made the national radio news tonight and was actually completely supportive of cyclists. Comments about the poor quality of infrastructure compared to Netherlands and Denmark, etc.
Old mate was interviewed and was very emotional as he’d been on a ride near Canberra a few years ago where a rider was killed.
Looking t the film, it doesn't look like a hit and run, it looks like a deliberate steering into the cyclist and then driving away. The chap is really, REALLY lucky to be alive. I cannot believe he got out of that with just cuts and bruises.
Christ that looks nasty!
I’ve just had the fortune of riding across Australia completing the IPWR - 5500km by road.
One thing I was also amazed at the aggression of drivers in Perth but I put it down to how good their separated cycle infrastructure is, so when cyclists and cars meet they are unreasonably surprised/annoyed.
More generally though, the driving generally seemed to get worse the further east and north you got. The road trains on the nullabor were surprisingly really great. Total professionals.
Oh props to you for the IPWR! Very cool.
deliberate steering into the cyclist and then driving away.
Yep, thts attemped murder, sureley?
Can anyone make out where his bike went? must have gone flying as I can't see it being behind the wheelie bin???
using a vehicle as a weapon should be a perma-ban.
on top of whatever you get for GBH or ABH
get on the bus you horrible piece of dirt.
The bike got dragged under the car for more than 100 metres. He was very lucky to go over rather than under the car, and then to land as well as he did.
Jeez...

A man has been arrested in relation to the fatal collision of a cyclist that occurred this Sunday, April 16, in the morning at the entrance to Turre (Almería).
According to sources of the investigation, the alleged perpetrator of the hit-and-run was arrested this Sunday shortly after he collided with a 69-year-old British cyclist, causing his death, after which he fled. The driver is accused of the crimes of reckless homicide and abandonment of the accident scene.
The events occurred at 10:30 a.m., specifically at kilometer 0.950 of the AL-6113 highway in Turre, a few meters from the Levante Fire Station. According to some witnesses to whom Diario de Almería has had access, a blue Renault Clío vehicle ran over the cyclist and then fled without providing any assistance to the victim.
The cyclist received medical assistance at the scene of the accident but they could not do anything to save his life.
The witnesses' version could have been essential for the alleged driver to be found quickly. In fact, some close sources say they found the vehicle with a broken window. Thus, in the early afternoon the detainee could be seen together with the security forces at the scene of the fatal accident.
This Monday the arrested man, of Spanish nationality, has gone to court in Vera.
