Need to get a hire car to drive to France (near Gap) in. 4 people + 4 road bikes and kit.
Anyone done this before? Any recommendations on hire companies? Was thinking a mpv or large estate.
Europcar do it, I've had a few from work that I've taken to France/Belgium
VW centres might be able to rent you a 'Window Van', i.e. a Transporter with extra seats and windows.
Look out for extra charges for high mileage whoever you end up going with though.
MPV is a bad idea. You will struggle to get 4 people in and bikes without possibly having to remove a row of seats.
The hire company will not let you leave the seats with them until your return.
A few years back a hire co mucked up our request for a medium sized estate. They tried to give us an mpv but then wouldnt keep the seats. In the end we ended up getting a free upgrade to a top of the range Volvo V70 which was ideal
