I've been doing more running and playing more football and afterwords my hips really ache.

Any suggestions to what is causing this and ways to prevent it?

I'm no expert, but with running it's supposed to help ease muscular pain afterwards. I think there is plenty of advice on line, so it's worth a try if you're having problems.

Rude question but how old are you could be osteo-arthritis. That's how I started!

What a depressing thought. I get pain in my right hip, more so recently - some days worse than others, more so when I'm not moving (at night / at the desk) rather than when I exercise.

I'm 38. I put it down to me getting older / general aches and pains associated with exercise.

Hate to say it but that does sound alot like my initial symptoms. Used to run a lot with a local club, seven days a week when marathon training up to about 75 miles. Stiffness etc post excercise eventually led to pain post excercise, and finally during. Tried rest, stopped for a couple of weeks. When I started back pain returned. So eventually went to Doc's & was refered for x-ray.......Apparently need a replacement in right hip & left is not far behind. No more running though I can bike which is why I'm here.I'm 49 but if you look into it you'll find 38 isn't too young. BTW the Doc's won't operate as I'm too young apparently.

I'm 27. I'm going to try stretching, especially the flexors, before and after and see how I get on.

Pregnant?

I don't think I'm pregnant.
