Has anyone hiked up to the Over Exposed site just off the Snake Pass? If so, what are the ground conditions like?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleaklow_Bomber

Also, are there any other interesting wreck sites in the North West?

There are several wreck sites within walking distance of 'Overexposed'.

I've done it a few times in summer.....classic Dark Peak peat/bog. Not sure what it'd be like this time of year, boggy would be my guess!

Although sadly I believe that the whole Kinder plateau is drying out.

2 days into a massive snow dump thaw is going to be horrible sludge up there at the moment...

After a decent period of dry weather it's easy going.

Now? It's OK, bit boggy in some places, but it's a well-worn path that's popular and it's been a dry-ish winter and spring. AFAIK there's quite a few crash sites dotted about

There's (obvs) a website

Not thinking of going today BTW! Will be up there when it is dry.

Although sadly I believe that the whole Kinder plateau is drying out.

Moors for the Future have worked hard over the past years creating dams and planting grasses to reverse that trend. A lot of areas are now delightfully moist.

Oh and Under Exposed is on Bleaklow.

Over Exposed is a hundred feet or so from the trig at High Shelf Stones on Bleaklow. Head north on PW from Snake summit until the path reaches Hern Clough then WNW up the swamp towards the crash site which lies between Hern Clough and the trig.
You can head over to James Thorn where there is a Lancaster crash site ( pilot decided not to take the navigator for that trip!) and then down Ashton Clough where there is another crash sites (C47 maybe?) towards the bottom of Doctors Gate. There's a bridge down there that has been designed for giants that takes you onto Doctors Gate which has a short section of swamp about a third of the way up.
A walk worth saving for a sunny day

Its not far off the top of the Snake Pass. I don't recall it being especially hard to find, although, as with anything on Bleaklow, save it for a dry sunny day unless you're very sure of your nav!

Eerie place. A lot of the aluminium has been polished by the wind and grit so is still shiny and flaps around in the breeze. There must only have been a few metres of altitude between surviving happily and dying messily.

It is an eerie place, it is not hard to find or that far to wander.

It can be a grim, wet, confusing plateau in the wrong conditions.

It really can. And slow going too cos of the boggyness.

When I first came across the crash site I was amazed at how much is still there and not been carted off for scrap.
