Evening all
I need a new pair of trainers and have been looking on sports direct.
I have fallen arches,so do I need high arch trainers or low arch ones.
I'm assuming I need trainers with the arches built up to lift my feet up,but does anyone know if low arch trainers are for people with flat feet ie they have built up arches,or are they built down,if you see what I mean.
Basically which ones do I need for my flat feet?
I emailed sports direct and they had no idea, surprise surprise.

Try a real shop where you try the shoes on. Never mail order footwear unless you are dead sure of the size.
My guess (as a non professional) is that you need to speak to a professional. The default option would be a sports podiatrist but you really need to find one off personal recommendation as plenty of them are rubbish. Perhaps rubbish is a harsh term but you need to find one whose expectations are similar to yours.
As an example I went to one last year, who was genuinely surprised that people ran as much as "20 miles a week"..
So assuming you can find you a decent one they might a) be able to tell you if you have either flat feet or fallen arches. b) whether you need to be concerned about the fact. What counts as "flat feet" and the understanding of the ramifications of it has changed somewhat recently. And it's now accepted that you can run with "flat feet" in shoes that historically you wouldn't be recommended to.
In short the answer isn't simple and beware of anyone who says it is.
If your in that London, the running shop on Long Acre is supposed to be good - except if you are a woman who doesn't look like a typical runner according to this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Running-Like-Girl-Alexandra-Heminsley/dp/0091944368
Appreciate the answers so far,but here's a bit more info. They're not for running in,just run of the mill day to day footwear. I'm sure of the size I need and I've ordered trainers online before with no problems.
What I really want to know is does high arch trainers mean high arches in the trainers so they would suit low arch feet, and vice versa for low arch trainers,or are high arch trainers for people with high arch feet and vice versa again for low ones.
If I can't find out I'll just get ordinary ones like I've always had.
My feet don't give me any trouble at all,its just a doctor once told me I had flat feet, and it got me thinking when I saw the different arch shoes, that all.
Thanks all.
