Vans classic canvas ones - OK for a 40+ bloke, or are they just for teenage girls? They have some cheap in TkMaxx and I'm kind of tempted despite never having owned any (a few years ago I'd never owned skate shoes!)

Wear what you want. Who cares how old you are?

Get the pro sk8 version, they're a lot better built.

The red one's? 🙂

Yes, they're great.
Got a pair myself on Sunday.

I like em.
Vans are pretty supportive, I 'm on my feet all day and they're excellent.

My Mrs reckons I dress like a 9 year old.

Currently rockin' blue and black Eras with shorts and Superman socks.

No the black ones, though given I have girly sized feet they also have the choice of a selection of interesting colours in low tops in my size. Black with white spots?

I suppose I am busy trying not to dress my age, but not sure I have enough style sense to actually pull it off without looking like sad dad.

If you are debating whether you will look like a sad dad or not, then I suspect you already know the outcome 😉 . Embrace it and embarrass your kids!

I've got green Vans, black Element, and green New Balance high tops, they're great. Even with shorts!

The trick is not to care. 🙂

I'd recommend the half-cab any day. Best shoe Vans have ever (and IMHO will ever) make. Ankle protection for riding and the proper vulcanised waffle sole. Super grippy and look awesome in tan.
My 3 year old has a kiddies pair and I think we rock.
