Does anyone know what the building on Borrans lane was used for. Some kind of factory I guess. Its near Staveley. Grid ref 433 010.
Cycled past lots of times and always wondered.
Is that the outdoor education centre? We went there with school about 1989.....great memories of that trip.
No. Its before the hall and before the sleeping pod things. Its just to satisfy my curiosity. I have googled building near Borrans hall but nothing comes up.
Is it on Streetview?
I checked on Geograph, and drew a blank in this instance.
(Yes, I know this isn't particularly helpful right now, but it's usually very informative about stuff like this. Lots of researchs done into the history of random places)
Oooh I know this! I wondered the same thing years ago and emailed the outdoor centre.
Apparently years ago the owner was really into collecting cars and it was built as a kind of workshop and garage!
Don't have the email anymore as it was about 6 years ago so can't remember all the exact details.
There's a photo on the "Friends of High Borrans" FB page, with the comment:
Did you know that our garage block was built in 1923 (during the Depression) by Liverpool dock workers to house the Holt family's Rolls Royce?
Thanks for the replies. Yes it could have been a garage. A very nice one. I can imagine my Honda NSX, Lotus Elan, and RS1600 parked up in there. In my dreams.
Its on streetview. Round the bend after the reservoir.
Cracking riding around there.
