Jesus ****ing Christ.

At least six police forces across Britain have questioned families over allegations children as young as two were forced to drink bleach and turpentine.
Some were also given bleach enemas to purge “parasites” which a church cult and unqualified advocates like ex-drug addict Danny Glass blame for causing the behavioural condition.
...
Glass, from Margate, Kent, calls himself Sunfruit Dan online and urges parents to give autistic kids up to seven drops of turps three times daily to get rid of “parasites”.
Self-styled American church “archbishop” Jim Humble, an ex-Scientologist, claims MMS cures just about every disease and disorder, including autism.
I don't even know where to begin with this one. I'll bat "I don't want to be 'cured' as I'm quite happy the way I am" as an opening salvo but really, what the actual ****?
Silly, everyone knows Turps is for curing teh gheys 🙄
People will believe anything if it's the answer they want and is simple enough for them to understand.
[OOOH EDIT IS BACK]
You add in a widely believed bit of information, make a bit up and draw a conclusion
Bleach kills germs, autism is caused by germs, drink bleach kill the autism.
Dear God.
The human race is incredible.
🧚♀️🤷♂️
I’d like to force feed him turps. I’ll be sure to tell my younger sister that she is now cured.
How about meths? Does that work?
Most of the meths drinkers I see locally are definitely autism-free, so consider that proven.
Right I'm starting up a new religion - The Church of the Methylated Spirit.
It seems that way people send you huge sums of money to spout potentially harmful bullshit.
I thought this was going to be about reducing symptoms associated with autism by using stem cells. Apparently there's some evidence to suggest that stem cells reduce brain inflammation in some autistic people and this can lessen or reduce their symptoms.

Quite apart from the 50 shades of wrongness of this particular approach, the idea of trying to cure autism is not a good one.
I'd suggest that without autism the progress of humanity, particularly in fields such as technology and mathematics would be greatly impaired.
I'd go further and suggest that we are all on the spectrum, just at different points.
Reading Jimjam's linked article suggests that anyone actually considering using HSC to attempt to 'treat' autism would potentially better serve their patient by handing them the turps.
I'd agree with that too cougar, i was setting aside the question of whether autism is a thing that certain people have and others don't (and therefore whether or not the concept of curing it is even valid in principle) to consider whether, if it was (which it isn't), it would be something that should be done (which it also isn't).
Well, in a small number of patients, autistic symptoms and behaviour are extremely disabling. The problem with a 'cure', particularly a pharmaceutical one, would be the tendency to extend its use away from the people who really need it, to a larger group who have far less severe issues.
As with every spectrum disorder, you have to draw a subjective line WRT disability and intervention.
You know what would be a really good thing to teach kids in school?
Critical thinking.
There sure are a lot of people who display a disturbing lack of ability at even the most basic of levels.
Let me guess "Big Pharma" has known that simple bleach was the cure all along but has suppressed it so they can make lots of money from autistic patients? 🙄
I despair sometimes.
Perhaps we could persuade the proponents of this "cure" that they are way up on the spectrum, and therefore should mega-dose themselves.
It would be proof of the cure...
If we are going to start drinking meths then I suggest we drink Rustins. The reviews speak for themselves.

+many. I've held this for years.

Do you think bleach will cure the forum?
