So the MIL is finally relocating from 300 miles away up north to the sunny south today. I'll be picking up the keys this afternoon with the removal firm rocking up later in the day. But exactly what can I, the missus and monkey jnr to do help, especially as her new abode is in the next village?

MIL is nearly 80 and the move has taken nigh on 5 months to push through due to chain issues. She's been super stressed as you can imagine, especially as the whole deal was off last week. No way can she get the house sorted without our help. So can we create a new bubble with her and crack on? Gov guidance not entirely clear from what I've seen.

Yeah, as long as you're not in a bubble already. Although TBH I'd crack on anyway as, like you say, she won't get sorted on her own.

Official lockdown rules say:

There are still circumstances in which you are allowed to meet others from outside your household or support bubble in larger groups... A full list ... includes:

The main reasons are for work purposes or ... to facilitate a house move.

and although it also says:

People outside your household or support bubble should not help with moving house unless absolutely necessary.

that means you can help if it is absolutely necessary.

Yep, that pretty much nails the ambiguity.

I'm inclined to crack on anyway and be prepared for a polite exchange with her neighbours is they start kicking up a fuss.
