Right i have managed to get an interview for manager of a shop in a sector i would love to work in
Guitars
But i jave plenty of man management exp and sales too
But no specific retail management experience.
What areas do i need to gocus on at interview?
My initial thoughts are
Point of sale, arrangement of stock and sales strategies
Knowing your customers, demographics etc
Marketing promotions
And motivating and incentivising staff and promoting customer services
Reporting on productivity
Any buzz words or concepts i should be thinking about/ researching?

🙂
merchandising/promos (ie if it's a chain, then 100% compliance to the promo...perhaps)
shop standards (ie clean, faced up, pulled forward, stocked up etc)
right people/right time
understand what good customer service is, there's a few acronyms you could find online ie WASP (welcome, ask, sell, part)
Good record of recruiting, training and understanding disciplinary process.
Good understanding of P&L controlables and how you can influence them.ie wages, stock/cash controls, expenses/repairs/ullage/utilities etc
Looking at your post spelling and grammar may be a good starter.
Something about how a retail store can compete vs internet sales?
What good customer service is, what would keep people coming back to you?
