Can the collective hive help me...
I get sent emails to me with attached building plans and for some reason both my laptop and desktop have changed the way I can view them
I used to click on the preview option, it would bring up a separate screen and in that screen I could then zoom into to the picture to see in more detail, I can't remember exactly how I used to do it, but I think when you moved the mouse it would bring up a separate box with a + and - sign that allowed me to zoom in and out.
I haven't been able to do this for several months now and it is really bloody annoying!
How can i get this function back please!
Depends on the type of file, it seems like you are just 'pre-viewing' a file within an email app.
Download the file and open it in the proper app?
As above, try saving the file somewhere (e.g. your desktop), then right click and 'Open With'. Select the app you prefer and then put a tick in the 'always use this app to open xxx files'
If you don't know which app should be used to open the files then tell us what the file extension is and we'll take a guess for you
Just to add, if you are using free outlook/hotmail it does sometimes spaz out on file preview, with PDF file previews for example.
try again later and it generally works, or just download the file and open it in adobe acrobat, etc.

Yes, it is a pdf file attached to an email, I used to be able to click preview and then zoom into the preview document with out having to download, I try to avoid downloading them as I get sent so many and it's easier to open them inside the email that it refers to rather than go off searching for a specific file name or code.
I'm using Chrome to view outlook
You probably need to make sure that your chrome settings recognise an app to view PDFs within the browser:
