We can't decide on a name for our new pooch, the kids are set on Chewie, my wife likes Monty and I like Rusty. Help! Can the hive mind suggest anything we can all agree on?

And before anyone judges we've spent about 6 months going round the local shelters trying to get another rescue dog but nothing suitable has turned up (mainly good with young kids) so we finally relented and got a puppy.

EDIT: ok, how the **** do you post photos? I'm copying the BBCode from flickr and using the insert picture button and it's not working!

Whatever we name ours, they normally end up being called Stinky. It's odd really as we've never had a smelly dog.

"trail dog"

Urgh. It's a puppy. Maybe it will hate being your fashion/lifestyle accessory.

There is only one suitable name for a trail dog...

Braaap

That way, you have a legitimate excuse to make motorbike noises as you speed merrily down the trail;

It's also an uplifting way of dealing with other doggy scenarios, be that sniffing another dogs bits, picking up dead stuff or rolling in poo.

Braaap, BraAAP BRAAAP!!

Put all the letters from the three names into one of those word generator things and see what it comes up with.

Yes getting a puppy and immediately labeling it a "trail dog" comes across a bit smug and irritating.

But flaming someone about it on a forum is just miserable and pathetic. Have a look at yourselves.

PS. Trailly McDogface

Call it My Face so when it lags behind in the woods you can shout out "Come on ....!"*

* joke stolen from another STW thread a while ago, I thought it very funny

It's alright chakaping - I was fully expecting it. This is STW after all. Sorry if I sounded smug, I'm just excited to get another dog after finally getting over the death of our old one just over a year ago. He was a rescue dog and he was brilliant.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Still can't decide. This is harder than naming the kids...
