Years ago I owned a book in which a writer follows the route of the African Queen film and talks about what he experiences. Always a mistake but I loaned it out and never got it back. Any ideas what it might be?
Edit; colleague told me; Blood River.
Posting that Yellow Pages advert is either a very clever direct link, or an incredible coincidence; Norman Lumsden, who played J.R. Hartley, was also in 'White Hunter Black Heart', directed by Clint Eastwood in 1990, which is about the screenwriter Peter Viertel's experience of shooting The African Queen on location.
Bookwise, I'd recommend 'Mimi and Toutou Go Forth' by Giles Foden which is a really good account of the true story behind the Battle for Lake Tanganyika in 1916.
