Hi there,

we have two Echo’s. One in the kitchen and one in my daughters room.

I want to buy one for my son to also play music.

If I upgrade to Spotify family can I set up three Echo’s each with their own Spotify identity?

Currently when I’m driving I lose Spotify in the car if my daughter starts her music journey!

if it’s a positive but complicated, solution advice would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

Yes you should be able to. If they set up their own user, they may have to use the Alexa app through another device, not sure if the app that controls your previous echos can link multiple Spotify accounts.

I feel your pain in the car though, happens to me all the time!

We have a family Spotify plan and Google devices around the house and an Alexa speaker in the garage.

With the individual  Google devices you are meant to be able to pair them with individual Spotify users. That said I’ve never gotten it to work! I often get my Taylor Swift interrupted with a bit of Wu Tang 😉

A work around is to stream from a device like a phone or tablet but that’s no good when you have a no phones in bedroom policy.

Registering interest to learn I’m doing it wrong and so I can save my playlist recommendations!

I found that each Alexa can be tied to an Amazon account, and a separate Spotify account. To set up your daughter's Alexa, she will need a separate Amazon account (think you can do a family account linking it to yours) and then a separate daughter's Spotify account (under your family plan)

For the kitchen you may want to attach a dummy Spotify account so that you get rid of the problem of you getting cut off in the car when someone plays music in the kitchen. This works as long as you haven't maxed out the number of Spotify accounts

I've never tried to do it but, Alexa can identify users by voice. Assuming it's possible, I'd be looking to use that to separate out Spotify playlists rather than doing it by device.

Thanks to my partner working from home as a childminder, my Spotify playlist is a complete shit tip. I used to go "Alexa, play some music" and get The Pretty Reckless or Metallica or something. Now I ask her to play music and get "Insy Winsy spider..."

Had this problem. So set up 2 alexas accounts on different devices. So can now use different Spotify accounts. But now lost ability to share one audible account?? Would love to know how to get that back?

I think each amazon account can have its own Spotify account..

so if you’ve 5 Alexas on one amazon account, then all 5 will share a Spotify account.

if you’ve 5 Alexa’s on 5 amazon accounts, each can have their own Spotify account..

I really need to look into setting my son’s Alexa up with his own amazon (thus Spotify) account.

Someone mentioned listening to Taylor Swift and having Wu-Tang Clan cutting in.

Much the opposite of my experience!
