Planned weekend break with the Mrs haven't been away in 5 yrs without the children both really looking forward to the break...
London to Suffolk (east coast) cheap hotel 1st night and nice one in Aldeburgh for Saturday.
Being the epic explorer that I am car packed with 2x -15 sleeping bags, thermarests, stove pan, beans many cans of, pot noodles, bananas, mars bars, full mountain snow gear, spade, torches, flask (to be filled)...
So my old man is pleading with me not to go he knows how rash my thinking can be !
Ditch the weekend or go ?
Whats the worst that can happen ? (apart from a multiple pile up etc)
I know if I don't go Ill have the grump on !

go on your own so your wife doesn't
a) have to spend the weekend on the M25
and
b) doesn't have to put up with you in a strop
?
You should go.
as long as you're prepared, which you seem to be, then go.
Life's an adventure - just be careful.
Definitely bail and go mountaineering instead.
I'm heading that way as well, but by train...
Latest update from just north of Felixstowe is that it's not snowing there, and apparently the worse weather is now expected on Sunday according to the forecasts. I'm predicting that by Sunday, the bad weather will be expected on Monday or Tuesday.
You seem pretty prepared but
Whats the worst that can happen ?
You'll spend hours stuck on the roads getting nowhere and with the mood in the car progressing through doubt, worry, frustration, recrimination, a blazing row then separation and divorce.
We were supposed to be going away this weekend...we cancelled as we didn't fancy being stranded somewhere.
Although this means that the snow won't be as bad as expected.
You haven't packed helmets to wear in the car, don't you care about your family's safety?
Oh come on.
A weekend on the A12 just next to Ingatestone is just what she's after!
Seriously, though, the forecast ain't that bad, and if you can't get to Suffolk, just book into the Travelodge at Chelmsford and improvise a little.
Pretty flat out that way and can be bleak
But good luck ?
Made it !
Once left London no more snow flurries
Prob drop a load of snow tonight
