Any Apple experts out there give me some advice regarding photo storage/ sharing? I recently couldn't get photos to upload to Photos (I think it's to do with the version of OSx we're running, and can't update it anymore), and so turned on iCloud sharing on phone and iMac. I now have 21GB photo volume showing on the iPhone than the 11GB it was and I can see all photos that are on the iMac.
I would like to remove the extra 10GB and free up the space I once had. But am at a loss as to what has put them on the iPhone.
Is Google Photos an option?
Maybe once I've sorted out what's going on here. I'm not sure why overnight I can now see everything on the phone, I assume iCloud sharing is the reason, but more so why the volume on the phone is now double. Which must mean 10GB have been downloaded to the device.
So you have 10gb of additional content added, perhaps stuff that was on iCloud before but not shared?
I gave up trying to get my photos on iCloud only, I might be wrong (and I’m sure I’m about to find out if I am) but I’m not sure it’s possible?
I was running low on space on my phone, switches all the pics to Google using their photo app and all is good.
Yep, I think that's what must have happened, but rather than virtually seeing it in iCloud it's downloaded. I will investigate Google Photos.
There is an option to have previews only on the phone or device then download from iCloud at request. I’m in a field watching cricket and drinking booze, I’ll try to remember to take a look later.
