Noticed the Robin we have in the garden was looking a bit sorry for it's self a couple of weeks back.
Its head is totally devoid of feathers and the rest of them are looking pretty scraggy too.
What's wrong with it?
Anyone got any useful info on how to stop a Robin going bald?

Robins can get very aggressive over their territory. Looks like that was involved in a turf war and got well and truly plucked...or was mauled by a cat...or is diseased or mite infested.
Robins nested in my sailing jacket. I left them to it and the chicks have now flown the nest but I spotted a Robin checking out the nesting spot before I had chance to shake out the old nest and get my jacket in the washing machine.
Do you think new Robin or old Robin's thinking about another family?

Robins are hard as nails. Maybe it just decided to shave it's head to complete the psycho image 🙂
It's a very stressful time of year for a male Robin. He's basically trying to shag as many birds as possible and fight off any rivals. It's understandable he looks a bit haggard.
We have an inflicted one too. I've also seen some pics of totally bald blackbirds. Apparently it's mites

We have a pigeon in the garden that looks like Sam the American Eagle from the muppets. Assumed that was mites. I guess it will be ok all the time it has enough feathers to fly...
