I have just wasted two hours of my effing life trying to get my Surface Pro to get along with my Kindle. To no avail. So I read about it online, and it seems it was a Windows 10 problem. So I tried my Mac. To no avail.
When plugged in, the device charges, but neither desktop Mac nor Surface Pro can see it. Consequently, it seems, I am unable to put any PDFs or books on it.
I am about to lose my shit.
Any ideas?

Not a direct answer but what about using the email to kindle option to add the items?
Want to swap for an hyperactive Alexa? 🤣

had this the other day when loading a book on the boy's kindle
the cable is the issue; not all cables are equal
use a cheap one and it won't work (i was using one that came with a bike light)
Get a cable that's used on a phone, and it should work
Exactly the above. Not so much cheap cable as opposed to one that is rigged to exclusively charge.
No, me neither.
But they exist, I have one and its a pain in the arse when you mistake it for a data cable.
yup - I have had this using a usb charge cable that did not have a data connection
Have the elves taken it to wrap and put under the tree?
I'd go with the cable too if it's not happening on the PC or the Mac. Failing that do you need to turn it on (if my Garmin Oregon is plugged in whilst powered down it turns itself on and wakes up, if my Canon camera is plugged in whilst off I need to physically turn it on before it becomes visible)?
If you really can't connect you should be able to link into your wifi and download directly from your Amazon Kindle library.
Thank you all. The cable was the answer. I tried a few before finally finding one from an old Nokia phone I had, and that one worked.
I guess my next question would be: If you're going to use all that plastic and wire to make a cable, why wouldn't you make it as useable as possible? Is it too much effort to do whatever is needed in order for it to transmit data AS WELL AS power?!?

Brcause you want your customers to pay to download content from your online store rather than uploading their own content directly?
