So I haven’t worn my wedding ring for about 8 years due to weight loss, it just slips off. Not wanting to lose it I’m aware of three cheap solutions - a plastic clip in thing, sticking in a silicone / 3m strip of tape, or a spiral plastic thing which you can thread on.

I don’t want to resize as I’d like to get more relaxed and fatter in years to come, so a permanent change is off the cards.

Which of the three is best, or is there another option?

Get a temporary ring for your slim years then switch back at the end of the era.

Just been trying one of those clip in plastic things for a week and it eorks really well. Just a bit annoying while washing your hands and getting soapy water between the plastic thing and ring. Keeps moving around.

My own fault for not getting the correct size ring in the first place. I sized it up during heat wave so it'll be fine for summer, but I'll just get another in a smaller size anyway for colder months.

Just a thought. How loose is it? I've heard lining the inside with a few coats of clear nail varnish can work. Then easy to remove later on.

A liberal application of carbon assembly paste should do it.

Could you wear it on a different finger for a while?

Put it on a chain around your neck.

Or get it resized and then have it resized again when you turn into a fat knacker. Platinum is pretty soft as far as metals go.

Or divorce.

My best mate is a goldsmith. I think he’d beg to differ on that subject. I’ll double check with him tomorrow when we go to the pub, but I know for a fact that platinum is one of his least favourite metals to work on. After some thirty-five years in the trade, he’s got some experience. Certainly, compared to titanium it is, but in the field of precious metals, it’s harder than gold or silver, especially gold, which has to be alloyed to make it hard enough to be reasonably wearable.

Is there room on the finger for a second ring ?. something slimmer.

So you could put the loose ring on first, then a well fitted slimmer band to hold it in place.

I sit corrected if so. Have I got it confused with something else? When I was shopping for an engagement ring I went with... palladium I think? because it was harder-wearing than platinum, brighter and cheaper. I think. I may have made all of this up.

Kinda daft when you think about it, it's all just shiny silver metal, might as well have gone with stainless steel.

Yes probably palladium, that's what mine is and it's gone slightly oval from wearing it, and it's been resized.

TBH I’ve not worn mine since the wedding, a zillion years ago.

Are you on the pull(and need the provider magnet) 🙂
