Nicely snapped by the way, they don't often stand still long enough for that. Got a regular in our garden and it's never still enough for me to take a good photo.

Tbh I grabbed the camera and took it from someway in the lounge thinking I would then go a bit closer once I had banked at least one snap- by the time I got to the lounge window to take another she flew off!

Looks like the one I saw on my garage a little while back.

I was reliably informed that this too was a sparrowhawk.

Is it trying to take flight, but perched/ running on a conveyor belt?

they don't often stand still long enough for that

In the absence of her holding any prey, my first reaction was that she was ill or, more likely, injured, but as she flew away I guess not.

Nice pic 🙂

She was trying to blend in with the scenery, hoping some luckless local birdy wouldn't spot her, before disappearing, leaving behind a few sad, drifting feathers...
Beautiful bird, you're lucky to see it, let alone photograph it. I'm always out in the countryside, but I rarely see sparrowhawks. More likely to see a Peregrine around these parts. Nice one.

Lovely.
We get a Male one (which is slightly smaller, with brighter colouring).
He has no fear and often whizzes past me when I'm out hanging up the washing. Often there are little piles of feathers left in the middle of the lawn, where he's enjoyed his lunch.

Sparrow harks are unbelievably agile and can fly through bushes at full speed to catch their prey. Amazing creatures, once saw a sparrow hawk perched right outside my kitchen window when I lived in London 😀

We get a male and female visit our garden, normally the only evidence is a pile of feathers but I have seen the male take a sparrow down, very impressive.

That's funny; we saw one of those in our garden for the first time yesterday. North of Blackburn.
