Found imbedded in a gravel track
Initially thought it was a truck wheelnut or a railway related fastener (track is access to train tracks )
Hex head but with conical bottom face
Thread form has baffled me though - looks like a bottle type rounded form not normal Vee profile
I know the small nut pictured is a sweet chestnut !
P
I appear unable to attach a picture of this nut .. the mystery deepens sorry
Hope this works

Free shaunthesheeps nut photos.
I would not google that...
I think some railway ties clear thingies use a knuckle thread.
The cone allows a bit of racking. The knuckle thread means they don't have to be fastedious with dirt.
Yes knuckle thread form looks like a visual fit , found some mentions of applications on railway carriages. I thought it might be a railway related item because of where it was found. Area has had lots of work done to reinforce the cuttings / banks - perhaps it is a civil engineering widget ?
I reckon that's a drive bush not a nut. For running a lead screw like you get on a lathe or big valve. Probably very worn which is why discarded.
Not exactly the same style but I think the same application - nut for rock anchors used in civil engineering projects https://i.postimg.cc/hXtGkkQg/rock-anchor-nut.pn g" target="_blank">https://i.postimg.cc/hXtGkkQg/rock-anchor-nut.pn g"/> [/img]"> https://postimg.cc/hXtGkkQg ][img] https://i.postimg.cc/hXtGkkQg/rock-anchor-nut.pn g" target="_blank">
