You know those plastic cases that SD cards used to come in, see through plastic, hinged at one end, catch at the other. Clam shell opening.

Im looking for something like that but a bit bigger - has to be the size of a Twinnings tea bag (paper wrapped) and deep enough to take, say 5 or 6 tea bags. Nobody makes something just for tea bags, but Im having trouble finding a generic case on eBay etc.

really useful boxes

I think you'll be able to buy them singly in staples

Would a case for mini discs be about the right size?

really useful boxes: had a quick look though and theyre too substantial or too big.
Im thinking something smaller than a deck of cards.

Don't see the need.

Why not just put them in a plastic bag?

in a plastic bag they tend to get knackered/crushed/ravaged in the bottom of a day bag where they live until needed (hence also airtight/waterproof requirement)

These are cheap, not a box but should hold tea bags fresh.

not quite the same shape as you're describing but something like the telescopic plastic parts boxes (the sort of thing drill bits and router bits are sometimes supplied in) might do the job. I'd imagine the people who supply them will have various other small containers too.

I mention that as I've just opened a jiffy bag full of them and realised the drill bits I order are sold in units of 10.... so I now have 100 drill bits. Double ended ones too. A life times supply of 3.5mm and 5mm holes.

I have one of those in the garage, could fit tea bags in. I think a hope headset came in it.

even better STgrace!

I had something in the back of long lost memory that I was trying to grasp and old game cartridge boxes are a very likely candidate.

Thanks all, I think I have some ideas now

asda do a load of plastic boxes, the smallest should be about the right size.
also this is maybe slightly big but will prevent teabag damage I can vouch for waterproofness of this kit - £7 how much do you value your teabags?

4x as or 2x 18650 battery case. Got mine free with batteries from dx and 7
dayshop but you can buy them. Might be little small. Or an otter box. Waterproof to 40m. Used to use them for car keys when scuba diving.

A ziploc food bag will keep them far fresher than any plastic case, I'd rather have a nice tasting cuppa from a bashed bag than an immaculate looking bag that's been aired for weeks.

*Can't believe I actually just said that. Nominee for most boring thread of 2015 so far?

*sees martinhutch post, nips out to shed*

I have one of those chain boxes in front of me now (just built a new bike the other week so had a new chain). It's bit on the big side, although I do like how slim it is, it takes 8x in their paper pouches. Needs a rubber band. Leading candidate at the moment 🙂

I love those chain boxes - I use them to package up loads of little bits/tools for trips. I have my complete on-the-fly brake fettling kit in one.

On a similar theme, these are awesome, especially if you need to eat the chocs to make room for your bits and pieces. I had a similar beverages container for car camping - but with tea bags, sugar, coffee and milk, plus salt and pepper and sauce sachets.

Might be a bit big for your needs, and it's not suited to carrying Twinings anyway, but this fits all my tea carrying needs...

The first thing that sprang to mind is a perennial classic, used for decades for carrying stuff in a handy, pocket-sized form that's nearly crush-proof, and airtight enough for tea-bags:

8 x AA battery case, just a little bigger than a deck of cards. The gel insert is removable. Not quite air tight though.

[img] [/img]

I have a slight excess since I didn't realise they came in packs of two when I ordered (at least not packs of 10 though). Once can be yours gratis (no this isn't just a vain attempt to get a mention on the ain't forumeers brilliant thread).

I knew i had kept these mini cigar boxes for some obscure reason, despite the cigars being foul, they are the perfect tea bag transportation device holding 6 tea bags comfortably and quite air tight when snap closed - cheers stoner…i also carry my tea bags to work in a zip lock bag and they get crushed, not any more.

Transorting my teabag isn't an issue, I put one inside my Morrison's On-the-go flask, and add hot water from the whizzy tap at work. Still drinking it at 2.30, six and a half hours later.

Anyway, never mind all that.

What are you doing drinking tea bags? Are you some sort of commoner? This is STW, we don't have tea bags, we have whiny middle-class cockbags. Have a word with yourself.

Also, I don't believe for a moment that "Stoner" will have any difficulty in transporting around a small amount of dried leaves.

Is disappoint.

Aww…... don't be disappointed in us Cougar? - we do try hard - in fact i'd say i'm one of the ****iest cockbags about when it comes to how i like specific things and my methods of preparation - i'm so far removed from being middle class though….lowly council house scum 🙁 ….oh to dream….to dare aspire to be middle class…one day…one day perhaps…..

Some days when i know i'll be working flat out without any breaks for 8hrs+ i take my Bodum mini cafetiere/flask thingy with 30g of fresh ground coffee left over from my morning grind for my double espresso, same thing as this below,

[img] [/img]

Other days i take my travel mug with either a loose scoop of Brodies strong breakfast blend tea, although the past few weeks i have taking my new Alpkit Kelvin travel mug (it's titanium you know - so there!) , and sometimes i take one of my 3 Ginger teabags (as above) and a thumb sized lump of fresh cut ginger and a baggie of fresh cayenne pepper, I bash the ginger into submission in the bottom of the Kelvin mug before i add the teabag, pepper and boiling water (i eat a helluva lot of fresh ginger - it seems to help alleviate my raynauds).

If that doesn't qualify for admission into the cockbag club then i am at a complete loss over what to do next.

PS - if we gain admission to the club do we get a special "cockbag" moniker after our our forum name?,

Loose tea would clog my flask, and I really can't be arsed to fanny around brewing a pot of tea to fill my flask, that would take as long as it takes me to walk to work!
I use pure Green Tea bags, though, so there! 😛

Guy I work with is a tea drinker, after emptying his business card box to light the Kelly Kettle, he now uses that to keep the tea bags in. Can squash about a fortnight's worth in because he doesn't do fancy tea, just builders. Do have a couple of emergency tea bags tucked into the strap on the sun visor in the Land Rover too.

Durhambiker - my wife is very disappointed that the Ringtons vans don't come down to Mid Wales and has to rely on aid parcels from relatives.

Pfft. Stop mucking about and do it elegantly (if maybe a little cumbersome for travel)

Worth checking the soopermarkets out as sometimes Twinings do a little plastic tea bag holder doodah. Think we had one, will have a look later when I'm home.

Otherwise, what about a Coleman's Mustard tin?

Holds about 3 bags, unfortunately I have no idea where it came from or where it is. If I come across it I'll post it on.

timber: I think a couple of new franchisees have started up in South Wales, so maybe we'll spread further North at some point. If I could have my own way (hah not likely, the wife will never leave Durham) I'd hand my notice in, then buy the rights to a franchise and move back to Mid Wales. If it ever becomes a reality, I'll let ya know 😉

Perfect for a short break away from home.
