You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi all,
I have no idea when it comes to laptops/computers and I need to buy something as I've been using my dad's old Dell tower but the space it takes up and speed it operates at is so slow are making it painful.
I "think" I need SSD...
Main uses are music and photo storage, linking iphone for music and occasional use for my wife's paltry annual tax return.
I don't really want to spend any more than £125.
Would I be fine with some cheap Curry's laptop or would something like a Dell Latitude i5 SSD be better given our requirements?
Dell's numbering system is completely alien to me!
Many thanks.
the i5 is nothing to do with dell its the processor, but it's an "old i5 might not be as good and a newer i3" type situation.
You don't need an SSD but it will make a difference, its also dead easy to swap so i wouldn't worry about it being present and focus on the spec that you can't upgrade.
What you are describing can probably be run on one of the clocks you plug into a potato.
personally i'd be going dell latitude or somesort of thinkpad, you want thing to actually stay together.
Check out CEX’s website for 2nd hand stuff; you can filter by price and by store location to see if there’s anything local to you in your price range.
You’ll get a 2 year warranty on it as well.
Tier1online....I've bought refurbed laptops from them a couple if times and they've been great.
You can get a pretty good deal, especially if you don't mind some scratches and get a B or C grade.
You'll probably struggle to get anything useable for under £150-200 though.
Something like this for £150 (£185 with an SSD)...
