Next saga in my now 17 year fight with the council over statutory notices.
To challenge the ridiculous sums they want to charge me I have to show they are over charging.
They are unable to / have refused to give me much of the documentation but I have obtained detailed drawings so need to work out costings from this. Its for stonework ie replacing spalling stone. there is no documentation for any thing bar these detailed drawings ( showing every stone to be replaced)
What profession will be able to do this? anyone on here able to give a hand? any clues?
A Quantity Surveyor would be able to estimate the cost for a fee. You might be able to get a quote from a stonemason but they might not be too interested if they know there's no chance of getting the job.
QS might be the best bet. Its a big building and a lot of work £300 000ish I believe. would a QS also be able to do scaffolding costs and the like?
Stonework is a quite a specialist thing.
Almost all QS's would send that to a stonemason to price for them rather than costing it up themselves.
As mentioned above, you might struggle to get a price if there's no prospect of carrying out the work.
DM me an email address and i'll send you something that might help....
