Driving back from the shooting club this morning, I saw a small sports car. I was in traffic so couldn't get a photo.

Anybody know what it might be based on my shitty sketch? The rear lights were all equal diameters. This is a view on the rear.

No, it was really petite.

Perhaps 1500 mm tall.

Lancia Stratos?

MCTD - I'd know a Stratos!

It's the back hence the exhaust!

No, not a 308 GTS.

It looked a bit crappy TBH so one of the lesser marques.

Looks a lot like Ferrari Dino, but not sure that would count as particularly small either. My total punt in the dark is Toyota 2000GT

No to all the above I'm afraid.

The car was black and the badge was chrome lettering, quite jagged / spiky, not a plate.

Was it a private plate or old H reg so 1970ish. Or new H reg 1990?

First thought was an old Dino 246 baby Ferrari, but think they’ve got the quadruple exhaust.

Europa (such a beautiful car) didn’t have round separate rear lights, it had 70s style rectangle(ish) rear light clusters. Front lights were round and separate though. And god those things were LOW compared to modern cars. Dream car for me.

He said small!

Pretty much all 1970s cars look small - even the ones we remembered being big.

I saw a late 80s Sierra the other day and was surprised how wee it looked

As much as I think it’s a Ferrari Dino too I’d be amazed if one was out on the roads at this time of year!

Opel gt.

slight change of direction, there is an opel gt sitting by the side of the road in the industrial area of whitehorse, yukon territory slowly rotting away. i was stunned when i saw it.

my first thought from looking at the picture was 206 dino, but the fiat 850 is a good call. the grills in the sketch do suggest that the engine is behind the driver.

The sketch is quite an accurate rendition of a William Towns Hustler Sport 🙂

The Mini Marcos was really petite and seems to have had any number and configuration of lights on the back at different points by all of them round

It was the Bicester Scramble today, so there was plenty of very expensive cars on the roads (even if most of the really fancy stuff gets trailered).

My uncle had a fiat coupe just like that green one above.
1300 twin cam, made all the right noises, and felt quick to 9yo me, but probably only had about 70bhp.

looked good irl though

I bet they are worth a lot of money these days... maybe not as much as a Ferarri Dino, though, to be fair.

Have they salted the roads recently ? If not, there's every possibility a Dino may be out and about.  And they are tiny compared to today's cars...

Did they really do that? just why? it's a classic car in it's own right, and they won't be fooling anyone.

It's a bit like when peole adverstise an M-sport BMW 3 series bimmer...it's not an M3, it's a diesel powed potato.

I don't think the OP drew a Marcos though, especially if that's engine louvres at the back

It was never going to be a marcos,  the sketchy sketch of the rear end and the shape of the tail lights rule that out pretty easily.

That almost works, it's like a mash-up of an E-type Jag, a Cobra, and some sort of Ferarri!

probably more like putting scuderia shield stickers in the front wings of a 90’s fiat 500. just a bit of ironic fun.

I wondered if it might have been an Alfasud; fantastic little sports coupé with a boxer engine, but like most British cars of the period, and all Italian cars, they’re incredibly rare because of iron moth. And no louvres.

Just had a thought, how about an Adams Probe 15?
