Going to London this weekend and having got my tickets I've now found out that there is "Engineering Work" between Haslemere and Guildford whereby you have to wait and catch a bus.
Not wanting to waste any time I'm happy to drive to Guildford and get the train to Waterloo but having been "stung" already with the fare I was wondering if anyone could advise me where to park securely near the Train Station for free or low charge?
Many thanks as always T

There is no free parking for more than 2 hours anywhere near station. Station parking or park and ride.

Park and Ride any good?

I think you'll struggle - I usually park in a residential road and walk the rest but it's a bit of a trek.

Any idea of how secure the station car park is? Looks like £6 for the weekend which is okay - unless I'm reading it wrong!

Station's been fine whenever I've used it in the week. They all have CCTV now, don't they?

There's a cheaper one here: http://goo.gl/maps/wGLVD but I can't remember what the maximum stay is. I've used it for half-days. I could check next week if I remember to, but assume you need it this weekend...?

Also there's a multi-storey on the west side of the station (down the ramp to the station car park, turn right at the bottom) and I think that's cheaper. Again, not sure of maximum stay.

Edit: just noticed the £6 for the main one - I've only used it in the week when it's a fair bit more. Doubt you'll get cheaper than that 🙂

When are you going and are you taking luggage? You could easily park outside my house and there's a bus about every 20 mins that goes pretty close to the station. Mail me if you want more details.
