I need some help.
basically my little lad did something to my pc earlier so I had to do a full install of xp again using the recovery disk.
now my computer is not recognising the graphics card and going to the card makers site that isnt picking it up either!!
is there a recommended website or download to check and update all the driver on the computer??
thanks
Steve
What brand is the card? Nvidia or ATI?
pretty sure its a nvidia
Have you done all the updates you can to XP?
not sure how to !!
Just go into control panel, and tell it that it can do Windows updates in the background whenever it feels like it. If it offers to do a service pack, take it as this will include a whole heap of smaller updates in one go.
Try to avoid downloading drivers from unknown sites, stick to manufacturer websites and perhaps cnet.com to avoid downloading anything malicious. While you are at it, download a free anti-virus from Avast.
I guess you haven't got any of the original CD's lying around, on older PC's the drivers are often supplied on CD's. On newer ones they are often on a separate partition on the hard drive, which may have survived your format. If 'my computer' lists another hard drive other than 'C' then this is likely, however you would need to run the recovery program to install the drivers on the partition.
