You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
This is a bit drum and bass, French voice on some of the tracks, not all and no singing.
I think the album cover was black with some blue speckle type thing.
Spoke to mate who had it and he has admitted he was so stoned back then that he doesn't recall the arrival of his 2 kids...so has no memory of this!
Anyone able to assist please?
Can you hum us a tune from it?
Just upload a clip of you singing to the YouTube, that should give us more to go on
Enigma, album including Sadeness part I?
MCMXC a.D.
Moby, it’s got to be Moby.
Everything in 99... was Moby.
20 years old next year..
20 frikkin years ,!,!,,,,,🤦♀️🧟♂️
Gotan Project?
It's not drumandbass and it's not this but I'm posting it anyway
Absolute tune. Was listening to SuperDiscount2 the other day! Superdiscount 3 is ****ing amazing too.
Haha, not Moby. No humming either, it is all very bitty and not enough to go on.
St Germain - Boulevard
DJ Cam - Substances?
Maybe not d&b enough.
1 of the Super Discount albums by Etienne De Crecy? No black and blue cover though.
Dunno bout this but was SASH d&b?
Mc solaar?
Air, moon safari?
One tune has a voice-over - Silence la class
Which is where my French thinking comes from...it is a statement then a rhythmy tune kicks off...
On holiday and signal isn't strong enough for videos so will check the suggestions on my return home.
Logical Progression by LTJ Bukem? Total tunes. Not sure about the French though?
good call by eat more cheese - blue speckled album cover?

?
Possibly...more thinks to try, ta.
I have been wracking my brains. I can think of albums that meet one or two criteria. None are black with blue speckles, but have dark covers. How about
As mentioned LTJ Bukem Logical Progression
Adam F - Colours
Hybrid - Wide Angle
Thievery Corporation - Mirror Conspiracy
Bit later but how about the avalanches - since I left you?
Spent today thinking...might also not be drum and bass...certainly has those elements but maybe not strictly drum and bass...
stereolab - cobra and phases group play voltage in the milky night ?
French voice on some of the tracks, not all and no singing.
That does fit for Sash!.
Megabass?
+1 for logical progression, class, and fits the bill in many respects apart, but struggling with the French bit. Not drum and bass, but from the period could look at Jazzamatazz (e.g. MC Solaar, Le Bien, Le Mal).
yeah sash encore un fois had a blue cover and french chat. I was also stoned most of the time those days...
Definitely not sash, I suspect it wasn't a mainstream artist/act as he was the only one who had the album (and can't recall it!).
Photek?
Modus Operandi was about then. But not blue speckle.
I was gonna say Photek. Form & Function was around then
Edit: not speckly either. Sort of spotty though
Nothing to add yet, other than I seem to have most of the albums mentioned so far: LTJ, Photek, Gotan Project, St Germain, Adam F...
I’ll have to have a skim through my cds tomorrow and see what I can find that might fit the description.
Thanks.
Could it be Leftfield- rhythm and stealth?
BT - ESCM (and possibly track Memories in a Sea of Forgetfulness). Think this ticks all boxes!
Edit: just re-listening to the album now, forgot it’s a cracker!
Is the OP talking about the Robert Miles era? Children was his big hit but around that time there were some slow dub European artists doing similar stuff..
Can’t be this can it ??
Choooooooooun!!
Memories in a Sea of Forgetfulness - vocals start from about 2 mins in, music has a definite chilled D&B vibe.
Maybe this?

Kruder & Dorfmeister used to top our list for chilled Dance, don’t think they ever “sang” French though..
Before The Storm album is blue.
Is there some French spoken/sung in another tunes on album?
Geckos suggestion https://www.discogs.com/Various-Water-Communication/release/96268
Bet it wasn't this:
Let me know if it was that, or even if you just want it. Picked it up in a record store in Kingston, Ontario in '99 and it still gets listened to.
Don't think it is, ta.
Spoke to mate again, he doesn't recall anything but had a rake and suggested stuff...all on here and none being right.
I'll be glad when I forget this!
Nothing useful to add but I’d just like to say thanks for reminding me what a fine album Kid Loco’s Grand Love Story is.
