+1 for logical progression, class, and fits the bill in many respects apart, but struggling with the French bit. Not drum and bass, but from the period could look at Jazzamatazz (e.g. MC Solaar, Le Bien, Le Mal).

yeah sash encore un fois had a blue cover and french chat. I was also stoned most of the time those days...

Definitely not sash, I suspect it wasn't a mainstream artist/act as he was the only one who had the album (and can't recall it!).
