Hello.  A frequent lurker & occasional poster here.  I need some help from the Hive mind.  My family life has become messy so I think I need a lawyer before it’s too late.  Can anyone recommend a reliable/effective family lawyer in city centre or west Glasgow that charges less than £370/hr incl VAT (my first quote)?  Also, any useful tips on managing the lawyer, controlling costs, getting a good service etc or general advice for surviving this episode is much appreciated.  I knew it was going to be an expensive option but £370/hour!!  Ouch.

I’m specifically worried my ex-partner is going to sell her flat and move significantly beyond a sensible commute (& friends/family network) making it very hard for me to maintain the regular contact I’ve had with my child so far.  This is what I want to protect against while we continue mediation.  I might be worrying over nothing but I can't take that chance.

For background info; I’m on the birth certificate, I’m the non-resident parent, paying my dues, 13hrs contact a week spread over 2 visits during the week and 1 day at a weekend, no overnights, we live 30mins drive apart, we’ve been trying mediation (not much agreed in 5 months) and I'm a very attentive & committed parent.  She’s signed off sick with stress, if she returns to work it'll be part-time, she’s had her flat valued, her fixed rate mortgage is due up soon and she's been talking about a move "somewhere". My parental access varies on her whim and she's threatened to deny access me access in the past (due to money squabbles, now resolved).  Her usual tactic is to keep me in the dark, make the decision herself and then tell me when it's too late to change it so I'm feeling out manoeuvred constantly.  Not a position I want to be in with a potential address change for my child.

I’m up to my eyeballs in work too so my replies may be patchy.  Email in profile for any private replies.  Any recommendations or advice gratefully received.  TIA lovely STW people.
