Evening STW,

Following on from my previous post regarding valuing a model railway.
While clearing out my late grandfathers train room we stumbled across 4 air pistols.
2 x Webley Tempest 177 cal
1 x FB Record Jumbo
1 x Pietro Beretta Gardone 92 FS

My questions is, am I ok to keep these and try to sell them privately, or do I need some form of paperwork or liscence?
I will ring the police tomorrow just to make sure, but they have made me a little nervous!

Thanks all
J

Depends where you are.

Licensing laws have came into effect in Scotland.
But I don't think they are needed in England/ Wales yet?

South of the wall? Nowt needed except common sense. Don't sell to kids without an adult. Laws easily googled.
Nothing rare there, not worth a lot.

Definitely south of the border!
I had googled, and had thought as much, but it's always nice to have somebody tell you!

Thanks all!

Apparently Gun laws in Czech Republic has changed ... 🙂

Now everyone can get one so long as they pass the test ... 😀

If you want to get rid of them as simply as possible then try phoning your local gun shop who will probably be pleased to take them off your hands but will not pay full value.

Alternately you could find a local shooting club and see if any of their members are interested.

Out of interest whereabouts are you? - I could be interested myself.

Either of the big forums will probably have interest for those (airgunforum and airgunbbs). The former is isn't fussy about minimum post count but is more stringent in their sales rules, not hard though if you can read.

Freeads is another good shout but be prepared for the usual idiots.

Do not put them on Facebook, they have a total ban on firearms sales and you could get any groups you advertise on shut down.

If posting send RM special delivery, you can send minimum first class but RMSD has full compensation. Do not get fobbed off with PF48, this has a £100 max compensation limit and is more expensive. No other courier will carry firearms so don't waste your time trying. Before going to the PO arm yourself with the RM restricted items list on the website - these are different to the out of date leaflet they still publish.
