Laptop was working fine, never an issue with the battery, turn it off Friday afternoon, turn it back on on Saturday evening with the power cable in and then pull the cable out and laptop goes off!
It will only run off the mains.
The battery is showing full, using Windows Battery Report, all the previous battery info is gone!
I noticed Windows did an update on Friday, not sure what though, but MS Edge has been updated, can't find much else!
I restored the laptop to the last point which was about 11 days before and still nothing.
I have tried everything with my limited knowledge, which is update drivers, run the trouble shooter/s...
I have searched and found quite a lot of people have had similar issues with Windows messing up their battery with updates, but I couldn't find any answers to my problem, so I know there are very clever people on here and they will no doubt know exactly how to help me 😀
Anyone have any ideas?

I had very similar / same issue last year with my Surface Pro 4.
Some Googling suggested deleting the battery driver / battery from device manager then allowing windows to reinstall them.
Don’t follow my advice directly as it’s just from memory but some googling will get you to the instructions I followed which might work for you.
Or wait for someone who actually knows what they’re doing comes along to help (won’t be long on STW)
Shut it down. Pull the power. Switch it on. If it doesn't come on then that's nothing to do with Windows.
Alternatively, Linux on a pendrive will prove / disprove the same thing.
Thanks markwsf, I gave that a try and it didn't work.
Cougar, I managed to put Mint on a usb and did what you suggested, and yep, it seems there is an issue with the battery and not the update, for once!
What can I do to get the battery going again?
Its still showing up on the taskbar and showing charged, its still there on the battery report and HWMonitor, so I don't really know what has happened. There was no issue with it when I was using it the day before, and no signs that anything was wrong!
I've fried to battery charging circuits on two of my work HPs. Going to something with a little more horsepower and bigger than 13 inches to try and stop the next one dying. they've lasted about 8 months each so far. I originally thought Windows update - and we get a lot of them, but no. It's just dead.
It could be one of a number of things and you need to eliminate them one by one. Trouble is, unless you have another similar laptop it will be hard to verify.
If possible though you need to test the battery in another device If it works fine then test the charger in another device (given that the charger runs the laptop though it's probably OK...). If both battery and charger are fine then it is likely to be part of the charging circuitry inside the laptop itself and obv a lot more difficult to remedy...
You could just take a punt and get a new battery to see if that resolves it....
