Good work finding anywhere big and flat enough to put down near the summit of Yr Aran. Going to be a pig to remove - permeant fixture for the foreseeable?
Well at least will make a change from removing Vauxhall fonteras off the mountain
Chinook should be able to lift that down
yeah chinook would do it, theres a video on youtube of one removing a broken down Sea King from somewhere in wales
and one in scotland too!
Surely they'll just get a chinook & carry it off?
edit: too late
I reckon they'll just get a chinook to get that off there........
now how would they get rid of a broken chinook though? Cut it in half and use two chinooks?

A quick Google tells me that one Chinook could lift another... Just.
Empty weight: 24,578 lb (11,148 kg)
Max. takeoff weight: 50,000 lb (22,680 kg)

What if it was on a treadmill?
Just call in the pikeys, it'll be gone in a couple of hours
Slightly OT, but a Chinook went over us last week in Scarborough and I was surprised how unstable it looked! It wobbled about all over the place. Still, the guy hanging out the side looked comfortable enough so it must be normal 🙂
Welsh volcano
actual lol
I can only imagine the fun that they will be having when the pilot gets back to camp.
Glad everyone got out safe before it burnt.

African or European?
[quote=bails ]What if it was on a [s]treadmill?[/s] turntable?
Do you know nothing about helicopters?

There's much more too it than that. The 'empty weight' won't include fuel, crew, ancillary equiptment, et cetera. Plus working at altitude will reduce the capacity, as will the temperature, as will the wind...
At least they managed to pop out down in a nice accessible spot....
I haven't read the whole thread but has anyone suggested a Chinook yet?
Welsh volcano
actual lol
Anyone else thinking of Ivor the Engine?
Puff the magic dragon....
What's that big heli with 2 blades, big thing, could it lift it ?

If your gonna have a wait to be rescued, may as well park somewhere you can get a cup of tea.
That'll polish out...
Do they have a reasonable excess on the policy?

Bell 212 Huey?
Doubt a twin blade could lift it.
Oh, did you mean tandem rotor? Silly me...
...no I doubt a Bristol Belvedere would do much.
