Looking for a weekend in september to doa bit of road riding and probably walk the cobbler and maybe a bit of fellrunin as well. alook on airbn shows not a lot near to the cobbler itself but quite a few placesin helensburgh, so just wondering what its like?

Nice, quiet, seafront and lots of large houses, mainly retired affluent folk. I had a few old aunts who lived there in sprawling old houses. No idea on pubs and food though.

My folks stay there, so I’m over quite a lot..... although the idea of a holiday there hurts my head as a result!

It’s mostly as described above, but there are actually loads of good places to eat these days, and a good bit of pretty much everything too. Not so sure on the current pub situation, should be a few ok ones though

Great if you love sailors! Clyde submarine base is just along the road.
Spent most of the late 80’s early 90’s getting p****d in the burgh before going underwater for a months. Probably change a lot since I was there or maybe not!

www.balmillig.co.uk is the place to stay, your hosts are the best guides especially when it comes to mountains an walking and trails and stuff to do. They also have a wee flat for rental.
