We had great fun meeting you, showing off our trousers, playing records and drinking free beer.

It's good to know the measurements are as per the guide. I've never had a pair of 38" trousers before, been in 36" for years. Strange how all the 36"-labelled trousers measure up as 38". Fellow trouser wearers, we've been duped.

Fellow trouser wearers, we've been duped.

Theres an aspect of 'vanity sizing' in the industry, but also, unless you're Simon Cowel the waist band of your trousers doesn't actually go round your waist. So on most garments its really an 'effective' waist size in the same way as a bike frame would have an 'effective' top tube.

Just to add my two-penneth,I am 6'4" with a 33" waist and sorry Cougar, but I do have a 36" inside leg. Well 35 1/2" really but its near enough. And I am no Magic Johnson with a basketball more's the pity.
My problem being the wonderfully weird shape my parents made me is that very few trousers I try on actually fit. Nothing in Next has a long enough leg, nor M & S and most of the other high street shops. Now I love the idea of selling them unhemmed, I think all of us know someone who can do hem them to the right length or we could have a hack at it ourselves (it can't be harder than setting up a front derailleur properly, can it?) but while I'd love a pair of good moleskins, the price is just a bit on the high side for me.

I do hope your venture turns out well though, Ed and Brant, we need more innovation of this type.

As a lanky top tip - Snickers (the workwear people not the chocolate bar) make most of their their stuff in 5 leg lengths, the longest being 37". A lot of their stuff is properly workwear in terms of holster pockets and knee pads etc. But they make a 'Service Chino' which is plainer / casualler (all be it in quite a robust workwear fabric) and is part of that sizing system (their jeans aren't) - anything of theirs with the size code '248' is 33" waist, 37" leg (and a 148 is 33"/35") and they're about £30

Trousers. The debagging.
[img] [/img]

Hebtroco Founder No.6

The bastards stuffed a load of Yorkshire tea bags in the pockets. Urrghhhh. I think there's a stray northerner somewhere round these parts I can pass them on to.

Mighty, mighty fine moleskin. I reckon these are chainsaw safe.

Enough drop in the gusset that my ballbag doesnt rub. A key concern.

I see what they mean by "slim fit" now. It doesn't mean: "crowbar me in, cut me out", it means there's not acres of spare cloth flapping about everywhere. Yet I can squat or touch* my toes and blood supply remains unaffected.

*I've never been able to touch my toes, but I can make a fist of it with grunting noises

I think there's an anti-change-falling-down-by-the-handbrake-flap in the left hand pocket. Sinisterly* there isn't one in the right hand pocket.

*bdum tish

I'm going to like these I think.

Full hipster points for the cover letter as well 🙂

Thanks for the post Stoner. Me and Oxley were in Oldgate after, and before hand delivering some around town.
We are about 75% through shipment right now.

POSTED 7 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST

As HTS says, we have a stock model that is nearing shipping. It's exactly the same trouser, but without the huge logistical headache of sequential numbering. It's called The 177.

Got mine on now. They are very fabulous. Think I'm going to have to get a pair of 177s in the other colour.

Fit is very much like my 501s but a little more tapered below the knee.

Washed mine three times, last time at 40degs.

Takes a half day to get them back to their regular fit after washing (they bed in) but all good now.

I'm in a 32 and should really be in a 33 or 34 so probably have more issues than most people.

You're number 10 Conrad. And it's just a matter of a mis-order of the waist/leg size you've requested which have slowed things up. So our apologies. I hope to get those out by end of this week.

Mine arrived today. no root vegetables, no superfluous rack mounts and no fundental measurement that's accidentally a bit small. Is brant really involved? 😉

They are gloriously well made, lovely material, true to size. I'd like maybe more taper from the knee but that's a point of taste. Thanks for the tea bag.

Cheers Eddie11

We are almost all the way through shipping Founders Kickstarter trousers. Shipping on some delayed by us having to guess colours and sizes across 40 sku's with limited data, and some small production hiccups.

We have shipped the first few production 177's today after being able to match up some overstock from the founders run with early orders for 177s.

We have about 50 more pieces completing tomorrow, and another 150 completing at the end of next week so hopefully should be all caught up by then.

Cheers

After a few days of agonising I've popped mine in the post to swap for a smaller pair. I'm gutted to give up my Founder's patch (#99) but if they don't fit they will never be truly magnificent. They are brilliant trousers; fit, fabric, construction are top notch and the moleskin is beautiful.

I'm one if the chunky leg brigade who normally struggle with anything the isn't described as 'easy' fit. That's not a problem here.

I think I over-measured as the jeans and chinos I went off have a lower rise so I was measuring a different bit.

Once I get the size right I'm having some blue ones too 🙂

Great job Brant & Ed, it must be wonderful to see the results of what (I imagine) started as a daft idea in a pub.

#98 turned up, a bit tight.
Brant has taken them back for a slightly fatter ones, but I'm keeping my number.
That felt fantastic.
Will there be any in black in the future as they would make perfect work trousers?

This one weeks worth of production seems to be taking rather longer than I thought.

Stoners letter is dated the eleventh of March....

Brant mentioned they were 75% through posting over a week ago, has something gone wrong with mine?

All the shouting and interest will be over by the time I get mine as even if they're due now I'm away for the week.

This is someone who sat a hospital appointment for 4 hours last week as they'd slipped my notes into someone else's and even after asking whether there was a problem they didn't actually bother going and checking.

This one weeks worth of production seems to be taking rather longer than I thought.

We polled as many people as we could using the methods available to us and placed an order across 5 waist sizes, four leg lengths and two colours to have trousers as Kickstarter funds landed with us (six weeks after project launched).

It was no suprise to find us under ordered in some sizes and colours.

To all founders, thanks for your support!

Stoners letter is dated the eleventh of March....

Everybody's letter is dated 11th March.

Eight more shipped this morning leaving just trousers from either very late repliers, non repliers, or one man with 40in trousers which I didn't like the patch pocket position on.

What's your proper name Pepper. I will look into this.

All have been sent Royal Mail sign for, I have a large box of receipts and I have a sheet of paper with lots of ticks on.

Update on mine.

Had them on pretty much constantly for a week or so to break them in. No discernible shrinkage in the wash, but put them in on their own for the first few times or they will stain everything "Hebden Blue".

Top pants. Saving for a pair of 177s in a different colour.

Got my 177s yesterday. Lovely. Material feels super tough but very soft and comfy. Snug in the waste, actually pretty
much perfect, but not too many pies for me if I want them to stay that way! All in all they seem to be top banana. Good luck with the future products chaps. Long live trouser town.

I think I over-measured as the jeans and chinos I went off have a lower rise so I was measuring a different bit.

To add another sizing data point, I think this caught me out too. I measured up my 34" waist Diesel jeans and was coming out at needing 37". I decided to go 38" to allow for a bit of shrinkage but found the 38's 177's were comically huge on me.

Also HebTroCo were featured in the Observer on Sunday;
http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/apr/03/rare-woods-in-guitars-are-ecologically-unsustainable-lucy-siegle (scroll down)
From their twitter it sounded as though it generated a lot of orders - nice one lads!

We don't find the waists shrink. The legs do. It's to do with weft and warp. Also waists stretch (hah - in both ways) - but the trousers do get looser after a day or so. But not longer!
