You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
A bit of a niche question here but one I am sure STW hive mind can help with.
An organisation I help out with has a welfare van which was weighed a while back and we realised that with multiple people in it it was too close to 3.5 tonne limit. So we decided to get it up-rated to 3800kg, knowing full well that younger drivers would need extra test to get license upgraded to drive it.
We have had the work done on the vehicle, rear suspension has been upgraded to variable air suspension. Tyres checked and are compliant. Next stage is to use a company licensed by DVLA to check the work, complete the paperwork and authorise to DVLA the up-plating. The problem is, this part isn't working and we have been trying for 8 months to get the progress. We are just getting no-where with forms getting lost, calls not being returned and a van which is still limited to just driver, no passengers. So, I think we have two options.
1. Find another company to act as intermediary with DVLA, any recommendations?
2. Attempt to go through the verification process direct with DVLA, I don't think this is possible or attractive, any experience?
Based in South of Scotland, if that helps.
Thanks
Sv tech will make it happen. Quite a common issue that the DVLA go radio silent on these matters.
Nothing to add as i havent done this before myself, however my horsebox (EquiTrek) is a 5t one and has been through this. They got 'motorhome' classification on it to get out of the Tacho rules
Otherwise, now they have devolved the MoT to places like haulage contractors to do the MoT instead of just the VOSA place where you had to take it, would someplace like that not be a good start?

We were using SV Tech without success. It is not clear if they are the problem if if the garage have not been sending through the forms. I was hoping there might be another company we could use but everything keeps coming back to SV!
VOSA was combined with the DSA to form DVSA
I'd go with SSS and pop into the nearest commercial vehicle test centre. The DVSA-run ones might give you better advice https://www.gov.uk/find-mot-test-centre-hgv-bus-trailer
