@councilof10 - let’s just hope you’re little one doesn’t develop depression or the like and that you teach it some manners.

I quite like it here, some people have accused me of stuff, some have been downright rotten, but they are few and far between, the majority feeling is of nice caring intelligent people. Its like a virtual pub or 6th form common room.

People on here who I’ve never met have helped me when I’ve been down, when my son had serious health issues and have made me laugh, get mad and taught me things in equal measure.

My daughter was born today and after updating my immediate family I posted on here. You might be a bunch of cockwombles (me included), but you’re my cockwombles 😉

Well said matt, it's unfortunate that certain forum users are [s]trolls[/s] dicks but you have to see it from their perspective - this forum is the only place they can vent their social inadequacies as whenever they leave the confines of their home i imagine they are rather tired of being smacked in the face or told to "[i]Oi - Just **** off will you".

The original thread was a genuine question about lights, i didn't expect it to explode into what it did. I had no idea of the impact it would have on everyone.

I still read those threads occasionally, especially when i am feeling low, it still amazes me and gives me a bit of a lift.

Agree with the other thread choices, especially the bullheart one, amazing story.

Sure, I like to have a bit of fun and poke fun at some of the more po-faced, self-congratulatory posts on here, but as was mentioned earlier, this place is a bit like a pub. If you get someone standing on a barstool shouting "Cooeee, look at me! Dez, I agree wholeheartedly with you on both points. The reason I commented is because without people like me doing so, I suspect this forum will completely disappear up its own arse!

As for my comment about "bullying", I've got thick skin, broad shoulders and a long memory. It's water off a duck's back, in fact, I kinda relish it. But what I don't like is the hypocrisy that seems so prevalent, and seems to go unnoticed by the mods.

Certain posters, myself included, are seen as targets. The real trolls - the Junkyards, Cha****ngs etc - know that we don't really have a filter and don't care about ruffling people's feathers, so they try and force us to break the rules and then go "running to the teachers". THEY are the problem, THEY are the real bullies.

I've found it quite heartwarming.

This place is truly amazing. I've reached out to the forum for advice on everything from holidays to depression (and occasionally bikes too) and have received so much help and guidance. My wife now suggests I ask here before I do.

I don't come on as much nowadays. I tend to watch from the sidelines a bit more than I post.

there seems to be a hardcore few (some on this thread) that seem to want to do nothing but argue.
mosts threads seem to go the same way.

it has spoiled the forum somewhat.

Councilof10 actually provides a very valuable public service.

Maybe you've had a particularly good day? You've been reading positive threads where people are offering advice and being supportive, and maybe doing those very things yourself?

At times like that maybe its worth remembering that the world still contains a minority of nasty, cynical, joyless *s who's contribution to this forum, and society in general is overwhelmingly negative
