So after my adventure last week of going to A&E (see last week post) I was thinking about my ECG a few of my heart beats where a bit higher on the graph, apparently normal I also spoke to my GP the next day and he said that's fine, sometimes when I take my pulse you can feel it - been like this ever since I can remember.
Anyone else have this ?
My Dad had this. After seeing a specialist, he went in and got his heart stopped and then zapped, which seemed to sort out the problem.
ectopic beats are benign and normal - and taking your own pules results in biofeedback whereby what ever you fear happens more ie if you fear a rapid heart rate it will increase while you monitor it, fear ectopics yo get more. Biofeedback can also be used the other way if you train yourself to control it. After many boring nightshifts practising while on a monitor I can alter my heart rate by 20% + in each direction by thinking about it and also my BP by a similar amount
The height of peaks on a ECG isn't representative of the "force" of the beat, so your doctor's right.
I reliably get PVC's if I'm caning the coffee or if i'm under long term stress.
It's apparently harmless and I just cut down on the caffeine and try and chill out a bit and they stop after a day or so.
Caffeine does this to me but also after strenuous exertion i.e. a race, not a normal ride. But artificial sweetener intake seems to make it far worse. So try cutting those out if you have a lot. Effects of caffeine seem to disappear in 12 hours or so but the sweetener problems last a week or more.
I can easily sink two coffees a day without much sweetners, but if I start drinking a couple of diet cans a day it gets bad after a while.
